Some time later, an American plane is spotted on the horizon. As punishment for the sabotage of the radios, Yamamitsu takes six prisoners hostage and declares he will execute them all if he is disobeyed. Knowing that if Yamamitsu learns of the surrender, he will order the massacre of all the POWs at his camp, as well as the women and children held at a neighboring camp, Lambert instructs Dutch to disable the newly rebuilt Japanese radios. Soon after, Dutch prisoner Piet Van Elst switches on a jerrybuilt radio that he has hidden away and hears a broadcast announcing the surrender of Japan. When a shipment of mail arrives for the first time in a year, Lambert worries that two of the crates may contain replacement parts to rebuild the damaged radios. Lambert, fearing that the Japanese will retaliate if the war goes badly for them, is trying to prevent all war-related information from reaching the camp. Afterwards, Cyril Beattie, a disgruntled British diplomat, accuses Lambert of inflaming the Japanese by ordering his men to destroy the enemy's radios and dispatches. Lambert, the British officer in charge, protests the killing as a violation of the war conventions, Yamamitsu spits on him and promises to slaughter all the prisoners if Japan loses the war. Yamamitsu, who has just ordered the execution of a prisoner for trying to escape. Known as "Blood Island" for its inhumane treatment of those incarcerated, the camp is ruled by the sadistic commandant Col. And with his ending dialogue, Tae-goo wins all heart.During World War II, British POW's are interned by the Japanese at a prison camp off the coast of Malaysia. It pushes all the adrenaline that was left. The last action sequence is a cherry on the top. One cannot stop falling in love with a subtle vengeance. The film is extremely plot-heavy with alluring characters and captivating action sequences. It depicts how one who seeks revenge can never get out clean. Night in Paradise is a moving tale of revenge. Tae-goo had the courage but he can’t face a tornado. The mantis is smashed by the chariot, Tae-goo is mercilessly killed by Director Ma. But he is just a mantis, and as per the proverb, we know how the tale is going to end. In vengeance, Tae-goo spins the chariot by attempting to murder Chairman Doh. In the film, the proverb proves its point. When Chairman Doh spells out the proverb, he denotes Tae-goo as the mantis who is trying to stop a big spinning wheel, i.e. He finds out that his sister and niece were murdered in a car accident.ĭirector Park Hoon-Jung flaunts his writing skills as he subtly introduces the theme of the film through an old Chinese proverb, a mantis trying to stop a chariot. Failure to find a donor robs Tae-goo of his peace, though, a fatal blow literally breaks him apart. He himself cannot donate because they had different fathers and hence, he isn’t a suitable donor. Tae-goo tries hard to find a donor for her sister. After her death, her daughter, Tae-goo’s niece, Ji-Eun will be left without a guardian if Tae-goo keeps on running a killing spree.
His sister is severely ill and suffering from organ failure. Later, we find out why Tae-goo wants to leave the mob business. Adamant on leaving the dirty gutter soon, Tae-goo instantly rejects the offer that enrages the mob leader. Due to his sharp skills and merciless killing style, the leader of the rival Bukseong gang, Chairman Doh shows his interest in hiring Tae-goo. Uhm Tae-goo ( Park Tae-goo) is an assassin who works for Gang Boss Yang ( Park Ho-san). Thus, their industry is well versed with the genre, and Night in Paradise sure does hit the right notes.

Night in Paradise ( Nagwonui bam in Korean) is directed by Park Hoon-Jung, the man who wrote the screenplay for the Acclaimed Korean revenge thriller, I Saw the Devil.
